Kids keep you busy, that for sure.
But to keep them busy themselves is a complete different story.
It's not that hard though, in a way.
And it doesn't have to be expensive. Until they reach a certain age, of course. Then it starts to be a tiny bit more challenging for your purse.
But for now, I have a toddler, and toddlers are easy peasy (well, kind of...).
We always want them to have all the toys in the world, as if it would make them happier, as if they needed them.
Except that they don't.
You give your little ones I don't know how many presents at Christmas and they all end up doing the same thing: playing with the boxes, bags, wrapping papers and gift ribbons.
For days. Maybe months.
So yes, in a way, keeping children busy is not that hard. Or expensive. You just need a bit of imagination (and a good search on Pinterest).
Here are a few activities then that I tried and that my mini me loved:
1.

Big cardboard box + Crayons = Art in a box
2.

Pots & pans + Cooking utensils = Free drum kit
3.

Empty nappy box + Paint + Knife = Kitchen in a box
4.

Pipe cleaners + Colander = Abstract sculpture
5.

Food colouring + Toothpicks + Milk + Plate = Magic art in a plate
But hey! Toilet paper or drawers can be fun too…
