Oh my lovely Elf...

And here we are… 1st December… It’s official: let the Christmas season begin!!!

My favourite time of the year.

And now that I have a child, it’s even better: I don’t look ridiculous anymore, I can just pretend that all the fun is for my kid!

And yes, I am one of those people who have adopted an Elf.

And I absolutely love it.

This so much talked about now Elf on the Shelf.

Some find him creepy. I guess that it just depends on how you use it.

Our Elf is not creepy in the least. He is actually pretty cool. And lovely.

His name is Lulu and he arrived in our home last year, when Slo was 2.

And she loved him straight away.

The first thing she did this morning when she woke up was to try to find him. She had not forgotten during her sleep. She totally remembered that he was supposed to come. And seriously, the look on her face when she finally found him was priceless. So much joy in her gorgeous eyes.

This tradition is just perfect. Lulu arrives on the 1st December and leaves our home on the 25th.

But he comes just for the fun. We don’t use him as a bribe or a police officer.

He is just a nice Elf who comes to play with us in December, to help us wait patiently for Santa.

Just like an advent calendar. He brings us a little present every day, writes us some Christmas cards. Every night, he usually goes back to the North Pole to help Santa and the other Elves with the presents, and then he comes back the next morning.

And as we have adopted him, he is allowed to go everywhere he wants in our house, he is our guest.

So he can just help himself if he needs anything, he can play with our toys if he wants to, use our bathroom if he needs to have a shower, cook if he is hungry, watch TV if he is bored, … We don’t have any problem with that.

It’s actually pretty fun to look for him in the morning and see what he has been doing while we were sleeping.

So yes, in December, we have an Elf who spends some time with us. It makes everybody happy and brings a bit of magic in our lives. Oh, how I love Christmas…

YES, LIFE WITH KIDS IS FUN
