A week of kindness

Is there any other best time of the year than Christmas to spread the feeling of love?
According to the movies, no.
And I kind of agree.
Of course, any time could be a good excuse really but I think that Christmas is totally appropriate.
And that’s why I have decided to start this new tradition with my family: a week of love. Yes, let’s spread some love around us by carrying out some random acts of kindness.
Day 1: Make some crepes and go to visit our neighbour who is at the hospital at the moment.

Day 2: Write a card, slip a bit of money and a candy cane in it and leave it on a car randomly picked in the street.

Day 3: Give a gift to a little girl and a little boy picked randomly in the street.

Day 4: Leave some food for people in need under the Christmas tree of our local church.

Day 5: Write to some children in a little French school who are working on a project about countries and who would like to receive postcards from all around the world.

Day 6: Put a few coins in a little gift bag and leave it next to a parking meter.

Day 7: Buy a box of chocolate for the man who cleans our building every week.

And voila, mission accomplished!
The week is over, but of course, it doesn’t mean that we can’t keep going.
A daily act of kindness is not that hard when you think about it. Smile to people in the street, hold a door for someone, give a coin to a beggar, be nice and polite in your everyday life, ask if people would like you to take a picture of them if you see them with a camera in their hands, etc. It doesn’t even have to cost anything.
I truly believe that if you are a good example to your kids, it will only make them a better person in the future.
This new tradition is just a way to emphasize a little bit what I try to teach my little girl every day, to make her realise how good it feels to be kind to people.
Because you can’t deny it: when you make people happy, it makes you happy, so isn’t it all worth it in the end?
